After only a few messages on the online dating app Hinge, we planned our first date for the very next day - bowling at Kings Dedham on January 27, 2020. On our subsequent dates, we conquered an escape room, volunteered as ushers at a play, and watched an improv comedy performance. We hadn’t yet gone on a dinner date when the world shut down because of COVID in March 2020. While all the restaurants and date spots that could have been our next adventures closed, we got creative and started our still-going tradition of coming up with surprises for each other. We invented indoor dates: karaoke, games, paint nights, cooking and baking courses, apartment mini golf, a camping experience in the living room, and scavenger hunts. Outdoors, we went for walks, planned picnics, played tennis, rode bikes, kayaked, and visited a drive-in movie theater.
Those months in isolation were the perfect way to truly get to know each other, without the world getting in the way. Since then, we’ve dined in plenty of restaurants, discovered new date spots, traveled beyond the local parks, and planned many more surprises.
As we change our relationship status from dating to engaged to married, we look forward to all the joys of building a life together. We are overjoyed to have you be part of our special day!
